Kelley shines at Corsair Classic

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's track and field team competed at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic on Saturday. Despite a depleted squad, the Seahawks turned in impressive performances.

 

Kathleen Kelley [Pembroke, Mass.] had some great efforts on her birthday, recording collegiate bests in the discus and the shot put.  Alyssa Desmarais [Burlington, Conn.] scored in both the discus and the hammer while Danika Williams [Fairbanks, Alaska] recorded a career best in the hammer.

 

On the running side, Alexis Gallipoli [Branford, Conn.] took third in the 1500m with a career best 5:15.55 and followed that up with a sixth in the 800m; Antoinette Galdo [Park Ridge, N.J.] battled significant winds to take sixth in the 400m. The 4x100m relay team consisting of Karen Krupa [So. Burlington, Vt.], Caroline Gildea [Cumberland, Mass.], Galdo and Kelsey Jacobsen [Albany, N.Y.] also placed sixth.  Jacobsen (100m), Gildea (200m) and Danielle Schioppo [No. Haven, Conn.] (800m) all recorded seasonal bests.
