Pallotto sets school record; Seahawks compete at Westfield State

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Salve Regina University freshman Paige Pallotto [Westbrook, Conn.] has set another school record. On Saturday at Westfield State College, Pallotto completed the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 11:45.05, finishing first in the event by over one minute ahead of the next competitor, and re-writing the Seahawk track & field record book for the second straight week.

Pallotto's performance also garnered her a spot in the New England Division III Championships to be held at Tufts University on May 1.

Several other Seahawks recorded personal bests in their respective events during a long, cold day. Freshman Alyssa Desmarais [Burlington, Conn.] threw a personal-best in the discus for the second week in a row, breaking the 100-foot barrier for the first time (102'00") while placing eighth.

Sophomore Kathleen Kelley [Pembroke, Mass.] recorded a pair of personal bests, first in the hammer throw (73'07") and then in the shot put (21'0.75"). Freshman Danielle Schioppo [North Haven, Conn.] ran a personal best in the 800-meter race (2:43.04) while the Seahawk 4 x 100 meter relay team of Kendra Andrie [Muskegon, Mich.], Antoinette Galdo [Park Ridge, N.J.], Caroline Gildea [Cumberland, Mass.], and Elizabeth Donahue [Rumford, R.I.] placed sixth.
