Salve Regina defeats Curry in CCC match, 7-2

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 loss at the hands of Salve Regina University Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Trent J. Scott Tennis Courts.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 2-6 overall on the season and 0-4 in CCC play. Salve Regina improves to 2-3 and 2-2 in the league.

Alexa Stevens (Portsmouth, N.H.), Annemarie Haas (Whitinsville, Mass.), Ellysa Tancrede (Chepachet, R.I.), and Natalie Barros (Tyngsboro, Mass.) were all victorious in singles play for the visitors.

Curry got its only two wins in singles play. At first singles, sophomore Alexandra Borkov (Newton, Mass.) defeated Sailor Nordstrom (New Bedford, Mass.) 6-4, 6-0, while freshman Cayla Osowski (Westfield, Mass.) got the job done at fourth singles with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 victory over Graysen Scherer (Mystic, Conn.).

In doubles play, Nordstrom and Stevens as well as Haas and Casey Farrell (Cumberland, R.I.) teamed up for Salve's victories.

Curry will return to the court immediately, hosting Rhode Island College on Thursday for a 4 p.m. first serve at Scott Courts. Salve Regina entertains Nichols on Saturday at the home courts on Leroy Avenue.
