Nordstrom doubles honors with Stevens

WOMEN'S TENNIS ALL-CCC HISTORY

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its 2021 Women's Tennis All-Conference Teams and major award winners Friday afternoon. Seven of the eight participating schools were represented on this year's list, with Nichols leading the way with five student-athletes selected.

Roger Williams' Emma Place (Francestown, N.H.) was voted this season's CCC Player of the Year, while Gordon's Annette Kim (Andover, Mass.) was selected as the Rookie of the Year. Western New England's Maylene LaPress (Bedford, N.H.) was the 2021 CCC Scholar-Athlete. The Hawks' Barry Gorman earned his third-career CCC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year honor, while Salve Regina, Wentworth, and WNE all earned the Team Sportsmanship award.

Voting for the All-CCC Teams and major awards was conducted by the eight competing CCC head women's tennis coaches following the conclusion of the regular season.

Place was also one of six student-athletes named to the All-CCC First Team as a singles player with her teammate Alessia Cahoon (Dedham, Mass.) also garnering First Team attention. Curry's Alexandra Borkov (Newton, Mass.), Endicott's Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.), Gordon's Jordyn Maddex (Andover, Kan.), and Nichols' IsaBella Winter (Nokomis, Fla.) were also All-CCC First Team singles selections.

Four doubles pairs also received All-CCC First Team honors. Cahoon and her Roger Williams' teammate Heidi Martin (Scituate, Mass.) was one team selected with the Endicott duo of Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Fernanda Trevino (Dallas, Texas) also earning a spot. Juliana Herrera (Villavicencio, Colombia) and Kara Stankewitz (Cologne, Germany) from Nichols were also an All-CCC First Team doubles team, as were Maddex and Annette Kim (Andover, Mass.) from Gordon.

Two Bison were part of the All-CCC Second Team as singles players with Stankewitz and Kelley Carlin (Brewster, Mass.) earning spots. Endicott's Hartman and RWU's Martin also added Second Team singles honors to go along with their First Team doubles nods, while WNE's LaPress received an all-conference selection to go with her award as well. Salve Regina's Sailor Nordstrom (New Bedford, Mass.) was also an All-CCC Second Team singles player selection.

Three teams of doubles players were also named to the All-CCC Second Team. They included Place and Morgan Crimmins (Boston, Mass.) from Roger Williams, Hoover and Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) from Endicott, and Kristin Kendall (Cumberland, Maine) and Madison West (South Hampton, N.Y.) from Gordon.

Gordon and Nichols each had two student-athletes on the All-CCC Third Team singles list with Kim and West representing the Fighting Scots and Herrera and Jordan Knowles representing the Bison. Keaveney from Endicott and Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) wrapped up the All-CCC Third Team singles selections.

Sollecito and Knowles were also named All-CCC Third Team doubles players. Sollecito earned her selection by pairing with Wentworth teammate Morgan Collins (Warwick, R.I.), while Knowles joined Winter to give Nichols its Third Team doubles spot. Salve's Nordstrom joined Alexa Stevens (Portsmouth, N.H.) as the final All-CCC Third Team doubles selection.
