NEWPORT, R.I. –  Johnson & Wales University women's tennis enjoyed the hospitality of Salve Regina University during the Seahawks' senior day festivities, and posted a 9-0 victory in Newport for the second straight year. The day included 18 matches on the six courts with the Wildcats' men's tennis team also competing against Salve Regina's men's team.

Nina Cohen (Guatamala City, Guatamala) led the Wildcats at first doubles and first singles, pairing with Delaney Macchirole (Greenport, N.Y.) for an 8-4 victory, before winning in straight sets against Salve Regina senior Emma Gruber (New Canaan, Conn.). Macchirole captured her singles match in straight sets as well against Gruber's classmate, Taylor Amendola (Westbrook, Conn.), at the fifth spot.

Amendola and Gruber were celebrated by head coach Peter Torgrimson prior to the match introductions, with players from all four teams present along with parents and Salve Regina director of athletics Jody Mooradian.

"What tremendous energy today! It was so fun to see all the parents, student fans, and staff come out to support the team. It was rewarding to look around the courts and see how everyone's game has improved. There is still work to be done but it's nice to see when the hard work pays off. Go Seahawks!" - Seahawk head coach Peter Torgrimson
