Women's Tennis #5 - Amendola, Bailey, Grant help Seahawks split singles with Lyons (April 21, 2015)

NEWPORT, R.I. - Despite taking a 5-4 loss in its final dual match of the 2014-2015 season, Salve Regina University women's tennis scored its most impressive result ever against Wheaton College.

First-year Cristina Marsocci (North Scituate, R.I./Bay View Academy) and junior Julie Grant (Warwick, R.I./Warwick Veterans) doubled up the Lyons at No. 3 doubles to put the Seahawks on the scoreboard.

The teams split the six singles matches with Salve Regina taking Nos. 3, 4, and 6, each in straight sets.

Sophomore Taylor Amendola (Westbrook, Conn./Westbrook) earned the victory at No. 3 singles while freshman Courtney Bailey (No. Dartmouth, Mass./BMC Durfee) claimed her team-leading 11th singles win at No. 4 for the Seahawks. Grant contributed her second point of the day for Salve Regina with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 6 singles.

The Lyons improve to 8-0 all-time against the Seahawks, but Salve Regina posts its most points against Wheaton in any of the eight dual matches.
