Seahawks coast past Corsairs, 3-0

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's soccer scored early in both halves against UMass Dartmouth and finished with a 3-0 win over the Corsairs on Reynolds Field in Newport, Rhode Island, in non-league action on Wednesday afternoon.

All-Time Series: Salve Regina wins its fifth straight meeting with the Corsairs dating back to 2016. The first ever meeting between the two schools in women's soccer came in 1988 and a 2-1 win for Salve Regina. UMass Dartmouth leads the all-time series, 17-12-1.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Salve Regina's Reagan Moffatt made four saves in the first half and Sabrina Lawless was in goal for the final 45 minutes making two stops; the Seahawk keepers combined for the first team shutout of the season.
  • 28 different players saw action for Salve Regina; Alexa Calabrese logged the entire 90 minutes on the field.
  • The Seahawks had a season-high 25 shots including 16 on goal; Salve Regina outshot UMass Dartmouth, 25 to 11.
  • Salve Regina had three corner kicks and their first two goals came shortly after the first and third opportunities.
  • Salve Regina now competes as a first-year member of the NEWMAC - New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference.


ON THE HORIZON:
The Seahawks completed a three-game home stand (1-1-1) and hit the road to return to NEWMAC competition against WPI on Saturday at 12 p.m.
