NEWPORT, R.I. - A goal in each half helped the visiting Lesley University women's soccer team to a shutout victory over Salve Regina University in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.

The Lynx even the all-time series 1-1. The Seahawks had won the only prior meeting y a 5-0 final on September 4, 2004.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Lesley senior Rachel Buckley (San Diego, Calif.) scored in the fourth minute to quickly put the Lynx on top. It was her second goal in as many games.
  2. Lesley freshman Natsuki Futakuci (Tokoyo, Japan) got her first goal of the season in the 60th minute.
  3. Lesley junior Brittley Gaan (Bellevue, Wash.) improves to 2-0 on the season between the pipes for the Lynx. Both of her victories have been shutouts.

Turning Point
Futakuci received a pass from Jordan Mitchell (Sachse, Texas) at midfield and carried it forward before letting a shot fly from 25 yards away. A low, line-drive, the shot moved from right to left and beat Carly Pala (Milford, Conn.) to give the Lynx a two-goal lead.

Quick Hits

  • The Lynx outshot the Seahawks 17-5 and 7-3 in shots on goal.
  • Pala made fives saves on the day for the Seahawks and drops to 3-4 in net on the season.
