MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Nine different players scored for the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team in a 23-2 victory over visiting Nichols College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

Series and Streaks
The Seahawks improve to 18-3-0 all-time versus the Bison and have won six straight in the series.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina senior Kaity Doherty (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored six times to move into eighth on the Seahawks all-time scoring list.
  2. Salve Regina sophomore Kelly Ventura (Floral Park, N.Y.) scored four times, assisted on a goal, collected three ground balls, three draw controls, and caused two turnovers.
  3. Salve Regina senior Christina Myers (River Edge, N.J.) made three saves to improve to 3-1 between the pipes.

Turning Point
Salve Regina scored the first five goals of the game before McKenna Gernander (Coleraine, Minn.) put the Bison on the board with 19:05 to go in the first half. The Seahawks closed the first half on a 9-0 run to lead comfortably at halftime. The Seahawks scored 16 unanswered goals before the Bison scored again with just 5:26 remaining in the game.

  • Salve Regina outshot the Bison 34-11.
  • Caroline Watson (Wrentham, Mass.) and Kiely Callahan (Glastonbury, Conn.) each saw action in the second half and combined for five saves.
  • Three different netminders saw time as well for the Bison. Sabrina Dembro (Saugus, Mass.) got the start and suffers the loss to fall to 0-1 while Megan Buxton (Pascoag, R.I.) and Keri Tremblay (Stow, Mass.) came on in relief making two and one saves respectively.
  • Nine different players scored for Salve Regina.
