Four Seahawks named to All-CCC team

NEWPORT, R.I. – Four members of the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team have been named to the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Conference team.

Mary-Ashley Donelan (Upton, Mass.), Kaitlin Gillespie (Haddam, Conn.), Katie Jones (Derry, N.H.), and Jacqueline Pilatti (South Windsor, Conn.) all made the All-CCC squad.

Pilatti, a sophomore defenseman, took home second team honors. Pilatti collected 23 groundballs, while forcing 15 turnovers, and winning 17 draws. She also chipped in a goal and an assist in 2015. 

Donelan garnered third team honors as a defenseman. The senior captain caused 18 turnovers and collected 30 groundballs. 

Gillespie had a breakout second season in 2015 earning her a third team spot on the All-CCC team. The sophomore scored 26 goals and notched five assists. Gillespie also picked up 17 ground balls and caused seven turnovers.

Jones saw the most action of her career in 2015, earning her first career win and posting an overall record of 5-4 to earn third team honors as a goalkeeper. The junior made 120 saves on the season with a goals-against average of 11.57.

The Seahawks finished the 2015 season with a 7-9 overall record and 3-5 in the CCC, qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2012.
