NEWPORT, R.I. (Thursday, March 28, 2024)-- Graduate defender Maddie Cox (Barrington, R.I.) has been named a Division III Women's All-Star by the New England Hockey Writers Association.

Cox joins a group of 19 athletes representing 13 New England programs as all-stars. Four student-athletes were chosen from the Commonwealth Coast Conference including senior defender Jess Burwell and sophomore forward Teaghan Hall both from Endicott College, as well as senior forward Alyssa Murphy from 2023-24 CCC champion Western New England University.

"I'm very happy for Maddie to be selected as a 2024 New England writers hockey association All-Star," said head coach David Lun. "She has had another strong season! As a graduate ready to move on with her professional career, this being the capstone is something that I'm proud of her and all of her accomplishments. She's been a rock for this program from the beginning, a leader on and off the ice, and a very deserving recipient for her efforts and commitment to Salve and the women's hockey program."

As a member of the Salve Regina women's ice hockey team Cox appeared in 102 games, scored 19 goals, made 23 assists, scored six game winning goals and had two hat tricks. Cox netted the crucial game winning goal that elevated the Seahawks 3-2 over Western New England three minutes into overtime on January 13, 2024. The Golden Bears went on to win the conference championship and advance to the first round of the NCAA tournament. After a noteworthy 2023-24 season Cox was selected to the CCC All-Conference First Team.
