BEVERLY, Mass. (Saturday, January 20, 2024)-- Endicott College moved to an early lead against salve Regina women's ice hockey when the team achieved their first goal 2:35 into the first period and continued their success for a 5-1 Seahawk defeat.

Gina Richard was the Seahawk who put the team on the board with only five seconds remaining in the second period.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Salve Regina 1, Endicott 5
Records: Salve Regina (8-7-3,5-5-1 CCC), Endicott (12-4-2,9-2 CCC)
All-Time Series: After today and yesterday's contests the Seahawks are 1-18-2 all-time against the Gulls.

BREAKDOWN:

Emily Wagner and Teaghan Hall met at center ice for puck drop and gulls swooped it up and got off the first shot on goal of the day. Continuing the energy they brought to the 4-0 Gull victory yesterday, Endicott scored just 2:35 into the day off the stick of Teaghan Hall. Just over two minutes later Lily Anderson found the net for Endicott's second goal of the day. The Seahawks fought to gain control of the puck but the Gulls succeeded in keeping the action in their attack zone. The second period also swayed in the Gulls' favor when Emmerson Hayes and Rivers Morris brought the score to 4-0. However, with five seconds left in the second period the Seahawks made sure the day would not result in a shutout. Gina Richard (from Riley Esposito and Emma Pereira) slapped the puck past Casey Moritz, at goal for the Gulls, making it a 4-1 contest going into the final intermission. To start of the third period, Endicott's Teaghan Hall snuck behind the Seahawks' goal, and with a pass to center ice Quin Healy made it a 5-1 game. When the buzzer sounded the Gulls' speed of play got the better of Salve Regina for a 5-1 final score.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Endicott outshot Salve Regina 54-18.
  • Both the Seahawks and the Gulls served five minutes on ten infractions.
  • Salve Regina and Endicott went 0-4 on the power play.
