Season-high seven goals for Seahawks

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Sophomore Danielle Phalon (Stoneham, Mass.) scored two goals and assisted on two others to lead Salve Regina University women's ice hockey to a 7-1 victory at Sacred Heart University.

Salve Regina had six different goal-scorers, with two third-period goals coming from Phalon. The Seahawks scored their first three goals on power plays, finishing 3-5 on the man-advantage.

Juniors Michaela Chicciuariello (Winchester, Mass.) and Sarah Markey (Ashland, Mass.) both had first-period power-play goals assisted by Phalon.

Senior Shannon Coleman (Chicago, Ill.) scored her third goal of the season and third in the last two Saturdays in the middle period. Cheyenne Boyd (Phoenix, Ariz.) had the first of her two assists in the game on Coleman's lamp-lighter.

Amanda Cronin (Medford, Mass.) and Taylor Shepherd (Quincy, Mass.) added third-period goals after Phalon's pair. Colleen Marcik (Madison, Conn.) logged 49:20 between the pipes to raise her record to 5-1-2 while Mariah Mosher (Auburn, Maine) and Nicole Grosser (West Harrison, N.Y.) also had third-period minutes in goal.

The Pioneers lone goal game at 14:27 of the second period. Senior Sara Hanna (Lino Lakes, Minn.) and junior Casey Stathopoulos (Waltham, Mass.) put together a nice 2 on 1 break, with Hanna finding the back of the net to put SHU within two goals at the time.It is Hanna's second goal of the season.

The Pioneers are off until January 3 when they travel to take on St. Michael's; Salve Regina (6-3-2) skates at Middlebury (Vt.) on January 8.
