GORHAM, Maine – Freshman Danielle Phalon (Stoneham, Mass.) was the difference in Salve Regina women's ice hockey 4-1 win over Southern Maine, Friday afternoon.

With seven seconds remaining in the Seahawks final power play of the second period, Phalon took a pass from junior Shannon Coleman (Chicago, Ill.) and freshman Shelby Johnson (Sterling, Mass.) to break the 1-1 tie with the eventual game-winning goal. Phalon sent home her ninth goal of the season 5:21 into the third period to give Salve Regina 3-1 lead as the Seahawks were shorthanded. Sophomore Michaela Chiuccariello (Winchester, Mass.) handed out her sixth assist of the season on Phalon's goal.

Sandwiched around the two from Phalon, sophomores Taylor Shepherd (Quincy, Mass.) and Sarah Markey (Ashland, Mass.) each added a goal for the Seahawks.

Just over two minutes after Phalon's shorthanded goal, Markey took a pass from Shepherd and senior Rachel Porter (Franklin, Mass.) and sent the puck past the Southern Maine goalie, sophomore Liz Bergstrom (Chanhassen, Minn.) for her sixth goal of the year. Porter's assist raises her season point total to 19 and brings her career total to 93, just two points away from tying Salve Regina's all-time points record.

The Huskies struck first in the opening period at 5:04 as senior Kailey Bubier (Auburn, Maine) did it herself, and scored the first goal of the game unassisted.
