ECAC Video Play of the Week: Markey's goal!
CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Scoring a goal against an opponent you've only beaten once before is a thrill. When that goal leads to Salve Regina women's ice hockey program's second victory ever over Manhattanville College, and garners the ECAC Video Play of the Week, even more thrilling.
Videos from February 6-12 were eligible for the competition voted on by the fans.
Sarah Markey's (Ashland, Mass.) second-period goal in a 3-2 win over Manhattanville led Salve Regina to the title with 430 votes, accumulating 43 percent of total votes. Markey redirected a shot from teammate Rachel Porter (Franklin, Mass.) in last Friday's triumph. The Seahawk video entry (see below) had only 10 votes at 5:22 p.m. Wednesday; when polling closed at 8 a.m. Thursday it had more than two times the votes of its nearest challenger.
Niveen Rasheed's 1,000th career point milestone for Princeton finished second with 190 votes, accounting for 19 percent of total entries.
