SALVE REGINA UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS

Andrie's two markers lead Seahawks past Panthers, 3-1

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Senior Kendra Andrie (Muskegon, Mich.) scored her first two goals of the season Saturday afternoon as Salve Regina Regina University skated past Plymouth State University, 3-1, in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's East hockey game at Hanaway Rink.

Andrie tallied one goal in each of the first two periods as the Seahawks took a 3-0 lead and held on for the win. Freshman Erin McCullough (Ludlow, Mass.) also scored for Salve Regina Regina, which improves to 4-5-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the ECAC East.

Junior Tina Worley (Anchorage, Alaska) scored the only goal for the home team midway through the second period, but that's all the offense the Panthers could muster as the team dropped to 0-5-1 both overall and in ECAC East games.

Andrie scored her first goal at 9:51 of the opening period after intercepting a Panther clearing pass and shooting the puck into the lower right side of the goal for an unassisted marker. McCullough made it 2-0 less than two minutes later when she deflected in a shot from the point by senior Elizabeth Carrier (Naperville, Ill.). Andrie extended the Salve Regina Regina lead to 3-0 at 11:33 of the second period, working a give-and-go from the corner with sophomore Sarah McCusker (Havertown, Pa.).

Worley put the Panthers on the board at 12:32 of the middle frame, redirecting a pass from sophomore Jenn Bove (Medford, Mass.) into the low far-side corner. Freshman Carrie Baruch (Coventry, R.I.) also picked up an assist on the play.

That ended up as all of the scoring in the game, as both teams came up empty over the final 27 minutes. Salve Regina Regina finished with a 36-12 advantage in shots on goal, including a 13-4 margin in the third period.

Sophomore Ali Muehlbronner (Glenside, Pa.) earned the win in the Salve Regina goal by making 11 saves. PSU freshman Ali Ponte (Richmond Hill, Ont.) finished with 33 saves in the loss.

Plymouth State plays its third straight home game on Tuesday at Hanaway Rink, hosting Southern Maine in an ECAC East game at 7:00 p.m. Salve Regina Regina hosts Connecticut College Friday at 7:00 p.m.
