Seahawks triumphant in NEWMAC debut, 77-29

NEWPORT, R.I. (Saturday, January 13, 2024) -- Salve Regina University women's basketball team jumped out to an 18-0 lead in its NEWMAC debut against Mount Holyoke College before finishing with a 77-29 victory at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

The Seahawks (7-8, 1-0 NEWMAC) were led by Sofia Neary (Wayne, N.J.) with 16 points, her sister Briana Neary (Wayne, N.J.) and graduate student Morgan Shuey (Corning, Iowa) both contributing 12 points.

All-Time Series: The Seahawks even the all-time series at one win apiece; Mount Holyoke defeated Salve Regina, 70-61, in the only other meeting between the two schools in basketball during the 2005-2006 season-opening tournament hosted by Brandeis University.
