Seahawks Dominate Glass, Beat Bison in Neary's Dominant Outing

Newport, R.I -- The Seahawks enjoyed a hard-earned victory over the Nichols Bison in a captivating affair, taking the game 96-90 behind the masterful performance of Briana Neary (Wayne, N.J.), who led the way with 35 points and 14 rebounds.

This was the second meeting between the Seahawks and Bison this season, the first of which the Seahawks suffered a 103-94 loss. In that match on January 18, the Seahawks led by 18 points at halftime. In this past game, the Seahawks led by 12 going into the break. The Seahawks seemed aware of their past mistake in blowing a large lead causing a conference loss, and Neary took the reins to avoid history being remade.

Again, these squads met twice this year. Neary dominated in both outings, putting up 26 points and 20 rebounds in January, and impressing again in this home affair. Salve was a force to reckon with on the boards, out-rebounding the Bison 79-37 (!). Alongside Neary, two more Seahawks found themselves with double-digit rebounds following the game: Sofia Neary (Wayne, N.J.) and Megan Henaghan (Whitman, Mass.) who added 12 rebounds each. Ashley Rourke (Londonderry, N.H.) was also impressive on the stat sheet, posting 16-8-7 on nearly 50% shooting.

The Seahawks (16-9, 11-7 CCC) look forward to competing in the CCC tournament and enjoying a home playoff game in the process. Sitting at the four seed, Salve Regina will host the Western New England Golden Bears (12-13, 10-8 CCC) on Tuesday, February 21 at 7:30 P.M. The Seahawks split the season series with the Golden Bears, most recently defeating WNE 59-56.
