NEWPORT, R.I. (December 10, 2019) - Endicott College women's basketball evens its record at 4-4 on the season and 2-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play with its 70-54 victory over host Salve Regina University on Tuesday at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

Gulls' senior Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) led all players with 20 points on seven of 13 from the floor, including four of six from deep. She made both of her free throws and had three rebounds and three assists.

Salve Regina (0-9, 0-3 CCC) made a great showing in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Gulls, 19-6, after giving up at least 20 points in each of the first three periods.

Seahawk senior Torie Scorpio (Cranston, R.I.) and junior Mary Rorke (Norton, Mass.) led the hosts offensively, combining for five of eight behind the arc and finishing with 17 and 15 points, respectively. Scorpio started the scoring in the first quarter for the only Seahawk lead of the game. After a pair of Emily Pratt free throws, Putnam drilled her first trey and the Gulls never looked back.

With a 10-point lead after one period, Endicott built the advantage to 16 (30-14) with back-to-back treys from Shannon Gilbert. Salve Regina scored the next seven points to trim the deficit to single digits. Rorke started the run with a 3-pointer, followed by baskets from freshmen Hannah Autenrieth (Hookset, N.H.) and Morgan Shuey (Corning, Iowa).

Endicott finished the first half with a 14-4 run to take a 44-25 lead into the break. Pratt had a layup and jumper sandwiched around a basket by Salve Regina senior Olivia Valerio (Proctor, Vt.) at the outset of the third quarter. Mikaela Rogers' layup at the end of the period gave the visitors their largest lead of the game, 64-35.

Rorke scored 10 of her 15 points in the final 10 minutes; Scorpio and Shuey had five and four points, respectively.

The Seahawks next play in Daytona, Fla. in the Land of Magic Classic (Dec. 28-29) versus Franklin and Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The Gulls travel to Connecticut College on Sunday, December 29 at 2 p.m.
