Nor'easters sweep season series from Seahawks

BIDDEFORD, Maine - The University of New England led from start-to-finish in a 64-37 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball victory against Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 10) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

Ashley Coneys (Dover, N.H.) had a game-high 15 points for the Nor'easters (18-5, 14-2 CCC), with another 14 coming from Sam MacDonald (Lebanon, N.H.). Jocelyn Chaput (Nashua, N.H.) went for 11 points and nine boards, while Olivia Shaw (Saco, Maine) scored nine while hauling in 14 rebounds. Kristie McNall (Wakefield, Mass.) added seven points.

UNE had a decided edge on the glass (51-33), which included 22 offensive caroms that produced 20 second-chance points. Big Blue also out-scored SRU by 18 at the charity stripe (21-3).

For the Seahawks (12-10, 9-7 CCC), Tara Burke (Londonderry, N.H.) had 10 points and seven rebounds.

After the Nor'easters briefly stretched their 1st-quarter cushion into double digits, a 9-0 start to the 2nd kept it there (31-15) for the remainder of the match.
