Bears take two from Seahawks, 8-7 and 5-2

NEW LONDON, Conn. (Friday, April 26, 2024) - Salve Regina University softball jumped out to a 3-0 lead in its first at bat at the United States Coast Guard Academy but the Seahawks gave it right back in the bottom of the frame and played catch up throughout. The Bears (11-17, 9-5 NEWMAC) walked off an 8-7 victory in game one on a Julia Briedenthal double and took the nightcap from the Seahawks (12-20, 5-11 NEWMAC) by a 5-2 score to complete the sweep in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at Nitchman Field.

Emily Lane homered in the fifth inning of game one to tie the score at 5-5. The Seahawks trailed by two, 7-5, entering their last at bat and Emily Cronin drove in Lane with her third RBI of the game before Emily Moskal touched the plate to tie the score with an unearned run.
