Capetta, Fluke, Roberts, Vanelli earn All-CCC nods

SOFTBALL ALL-CCC HISTORY

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its 2021 Softball All-Conference Teams and major award winners Wednesday afternoon. All 10 CCC schools had student-athletes recognized as All-CCC honorees this year. Endicott had eight selections to lead the conference.

The five major awards were split between Endicott and Roger Williams. The Gulls collected the Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, and Rookie of the Year honors with Adrianna Favreau (Tewksbury, Mass.), Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.), and Meghan Connor (St. Albans, Vt.) being named, respectively. The first-ever CCC Softball Defensive Player of the Year award went to the Hawks' Taylor Chatowsky (North Kingstown, R.I.), while Tara Chatowsky (North Kingstown, R.I.) was named the CCC Scholar-Athlete. Western New England's Amanda Novak earned her first CCC Coach of the Year honor and Gordon took home the Team Sportsmanship award.

Voting for the All-CCC teams and each of the major awards was conducted by the conference's 10 softball head coaches following the conclusion of the regular season.

The Endicott trio of award winners along with Tara Chatowsky were all also named to the All-CCC First Team. Joining Hanchuk as an All-CCC First Team pitcher was her teammate Michaela Hamill (Lynn, Mass.). Conner was the First Team catcher with Favreau named at second base. Western New England's Cori Rizzo (Methuen, Mass.) was selected as the First Teamer at first base with Suffolk's Ally Cifaratta (Cicero, N.Y.) across the diamond at third. RWU's Katrina Goria (Wyckoff, N.J.) was named the All-CCC First Team shortstop. Tara Chatowsky was one of three outfielders selected to the First Team. She was joined by teammate Sydney Provencal (Cumberland, R.I.) and Endicott's Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.). Rounding out the All-CCC First Team were WNE's Dina DiBlasio (Norwalk, Conn.), who was the selection at designated player and Curry's Taylor Newcomb (Millville, Mass.) being named at utility.

There were three pitchers named to the All-CCC Second Team with Maddy Fluke (Douglas, Mass.) from Salve Regina, Jordan Strum (Somersworth, N.H.) from the University of New England, and Paige Uliase (Meriden, Conn.) from WNE all earning spots. Doing the catching on the Second Team would be Suffolk's Ashley Zulla (Columbus, N.J.). Two Gulls made up half of the All-CCC Second Team infield with Carly Marchitto (Orange, Conn.) at first and Keelin Spencer (San Jose, Calif.) at shortstop. Salve's Nikki Vanelli (Quakertown, Pa.) and Gordon's Lily Rivera (Concord, N.H.) were the selections at second base and third base, respectively. In the outfield on the Second Team were WNE's Lexie Hemstock (Cheshire, Conn.), Suffolk's Caitlin Murphy (Abington, Mass.), and Wentworth's Kaitlin Pettenger (Budd Lake, N.J.). The Seahawks' Jessica Roberts (Dix Hills, N.Y.) was the Second Team designated player with UNE's Makenzy Herron (Boylston, Mass.) earning the utility spot.

Two pitchers and two catchers garnered All-CCC Third Team recognition including the Roger Williams battery of Lia Nocella (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Bay Naples (Livingston, N.J.). Joining them on the Third Team were Gordon pitcher Mara Little (Port Deposit, Md.) and WNE catcher Madison Mason (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.). The Third Team infield featured two Hawks on the corners with Alexandra Lombardo (Thomaston, Conn.) at first and Taylor Chatowsky at third with the Fighting Scots' Laura Bieren (Groton, Mass.) and the Seahawks' Maddie Capetta (Raritan, N.J.) up the middle at second and shortstop, respectively. Four outfielders earned All-CCC Third Team recognition with Hailey Bogusz (Montague, Mass.) representing Nichols, Jordan Ferullo (Burlington, Mass.) representing Curry, Karissa Hatchell (Eaton, Colo.) representing Gordon, and Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) representing Endicott. Completing the All-CCC Third Team were Suffolk's Savannah Scripter (Lancaster, Calif.) at DP and Roger Williams' Taylor Howell (Sandwich, Mass.) at utility.
