CCC Pitcher of the Week: Nicole Parry

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University senior Nicole Parry (Quincy, Mass.) as its Pitcher of the Week for softball (April 11 - 17).

Pitcher of the Week – Parry pitched four complete games this week, earning victories in each contest which were all against CCC opponents. She opened the week with a six inning two-hit performance on Monday (April 11) against Gordon. She allowed just one run and struck out eleven, marking the third time she's hit double-digit strikeout numbers this season. She struck out six more on Wednesday (April 13) in a 2-1 win over the University of New England. She earned her lone shutout of the week on Saturday (April 16) in a seven-inning, six-hit showing against Endicott. She fanned five Gulls in that outing. The next day, she held Curry to four hits and one run, while striking out seven to earn her fourth win of the week. Overall, Parry struck out 29 batters in 27 innings pitched, while surrendering only two earned runs for a 0.52 ERA.

Parry joins fellow pitcher Kelsey Boarman (North Dighton, Mass.) as weekly honorees for the conference. The pitching tandem has limited opponents to just five earned runs in the last 72 innings.

Salve Regina (12-12; 10-4 CCC) went 7-1 on the week and returns to action on Tuesday when the Seahawks face head coach Jess DePolito's alma mater, Wheaton College, in Norton, Mass.

Parry and fellow captains and classmates, Genevieve Benoit (Swampscott, Mass.) and Melissa Figueiredo (East Bridgewater, Mass.), host Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday for their senior day.
