Quintana earns NFCA All-Region honors

NEWPORT, R.I. – After a record-setting 2012 campaign, Salve Regina University junior Jillian Quintana (Denver, Colo.) has been selected as a member of the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-New England Third Team.
Quintana enjoyed a historic season for the Seahawks this year, setting the program's all-time record with 41 runs batted in, while also placing second on the all-time list with 70 total bases. In addition, the junior first baseman led the team in batting average (.367), slugging percentage (.583), home runs (4), and triples (2). As a result, Quintana earned All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) First Team recognition.
Quintana's outstanding performance on the field helped to lead the Seahawks to one of their most successful seasons in program history. The team finished with 24 wins on the year, just one victory shy of the program record, including a 14-4 mark in the conference to capture their first CCC regular season title since 1999. The Seahawks also enjoyed postseason success, advancing to the CCC Championship title game while also earning their second-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship tournament berth.
Quintana is currently the program's all-time home run leader and will enter her senior campaign as the school's all-time leader in slugging percentage.
