SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Salve Regina University junior first baseman Jillian Quintana (Denver, Colo.) hit safely and reached base at least twice in each contest to help lead the Seahawks to a 4-0 weekly record, which lengthened the team's winning streak to eight games. She batted .667 with an outstanding 1.417 slugging percentage with included two home runs, three doubles, nine RBI and two runs scored. During a doubleheader sweep of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rival Gordon, Quintana went 5-for-6 with a home run and seven runs batted in. In addition, she posted three multiple hit games on the week.

Salve Regina (20-13; 13-3 CCC) had its showdown for first place with Endicott (18-13-1; 12-2 CCC) postponed a second time on Monday due to unplayable field. The Seahawks and Gulls square off Tuesday afternoon (4:15 p.m. at Toppa Field) in a twinbill that could clinch first place for either team.

The Gulls, nine-time defending champions, own a 24-5 record in the all-time series. The last time the Seahawks won (7-5 on April 6, 2010) came on a three-run, walk-off homerun by Quintana during her first season with Salve Regina.

Quintana, honored for the second time this season, follows teammates Ali Muehlbronner (Glenside, Pa.), Jen Cruver (North Haven, Conn.), and most recently Marissa Simpson (Brimfield, Mass.) as weekly honorees for the Commonwealth Coast Conference this season.
