Cruver tabbed TCCC Pitcher of the Week

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University sophomore Jen Cruver (North Haven, Conn.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Jen Cruver

Cruver - who shares the honor with Kayla Carignan of Endicott - picked up a pair of wins against TCCC rival Wentworth on Wednesday to improve to 8-15 on the season. She tossed a no-hitter in the Seahawks 8-0 win in game one, allowing one walk while striking out one. In the nightcap, Cruver worked three innings and scattered three hits while striking out two in a 9-0 win over the Leopards.

Cruver joins freshman teammate Marissa Simpson (Brimfield, Mass.) as Seahawks who have been honored by TCCC this season. On March 28, Simpson picked up Pitcher of the Week honors after hurling back-to-back shutouts against New England College and Regis.

The Seahawks (14-24, 12-12 TCCC) return to action on Thursday when they host UMass Dartmouth. The doubleheader begins at 4 p.m. and closes the regular season for Salve Regina, who will begin the conference playoffs on the road on Monday, May 2. The Seahawks will be the No. 8 seed, and their opponent has yet to be determined.
