Seahawks take first in New England Dinghy Championships
NEWPORT, R.I. (Saturday, April 6, 2024) - Salve Regina University sailing team captured first place in the New England Dinghy Championships while hosting at Fort Adams State Park.
A beautiful day of racing in Newport with north winds ranging from 12-25 kts for the first nine races, and finally faded during Race 10 as rain clouds approached. After a few teams asked about running all 10 races in one day, the group was polled at the competitor's meeting and unanimously decided to make this a one day event. Thank you to Assistant Coach Brittney Manning for running the mark boat, Nat Altuzar '27 for taking photos, and many other Seahawk undergrads for helping on land. Congratulations to Salve Regina & Olin College for qualifying for the Open NE Fleet Racing Championship at Brown in two weeks!
