BOSTON, Mass. - In a dominating performance, Salve Regina captured Boston University Trophy on Easter. As cities with big buildings always prevent solid, consistent wind and provide conditions challenging for racing, Boston was no exception this weekend.

Junior Bob Lippincott (Oxford, Md.) and senior Nicole Ioannilli (Norwood, Mass.) started the winning ways by coming in first in their first race. Senior Kyle Carney (New Bedford, Mass.) and freshman Angelina Todaro (Ipswich, Mass.) answered back with two first-place finishes of their own in the following set.

"We were just focusing on being consistent," says captain Carney. "We were able to have good, consistent races all day which kept us ahead."

Filling in for Carney on Sunday, junior Chris Jensen (Mountain View, Calif.) was able to continue the winning ways and finished in first place in two of the four races he sailed.

"It really came down to good crew work," says Jensen. "I just tried to get us a good start and Angelina was the one who kept us in it."

Lippincott and Ioannilli continued to sail well and finished in the top five in eight of the ten races. Salve Regina finished first in both divisions and was a whopping 30 points ahead of second-place Dartmouth College.

"I'm really excited about what we did this weekend," says coach John Ingalls. "It wasn't perfect but I saw a lot of good things and want to keep this momentum in the following weeks."

After finishing 9th at a challenging regatta at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and winning in Boston, Salve Regina is turning its sights to the New England Dinghy Championship Regatta which will serve as the qualifier for the nationals.
