BRUNSWICK, Maine - Salve Regina University sailing had another strong outing in the Barnett Trophy at Bowdoin College to qualify for the Sherman Hoyt Trophy at Brown.

After two hard fought days, the Seahawks finished third overall ahead of Boston University and perennial powerhouse Boston College, along with eight other schools around New England.

A division senior skipper Kyle Carney (New Bedford, Mass.) with freshman crew Angelina Todaro (Ipswich, Mass.) and B division junior skipper Bob Lippincott (Oxford, Md.) with sophomore crew Baillie Lawless (Rochester, N.Y.) enjoyed beautiful conditions on Saturday with abundant sunshine and winds ranging from 10-15 knots.

The sailors were greeted with glassy waters and a two hour delay on sunday until a light southeasterly filled, providing enough breeze to finish a full rotation and the regatta.

"The team picked up valuable ranking points this weekend and look to maintain this confidence going into the Atlantic Coast Championship qualifiers in two weeks," said assistant coach Michael Komar.

Looking forward to next weekend, Salve will compete in the Captain Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth College. A top finish here will solidify Salve's spot in the New England rankings for the fall season.
