MEDFORD, Mass. - Salve Regina University sailing team competed at the top level regatta Hood Trophy at Tufts University on Mystic Lake in Medford, Mass. this weekend. At the intersectional regatta, sailors gathered from all over the East coast and coming from as far as Michigan found challenging conditions over the two-day regatta.

Senior captain Kyle Carney (Newport, R.I.) and freshman Angelina Todaro (Ipswich, Mass.) provided top ten results throughout the weekend.  Junior Bob Lippincott (Oxford, Md.) and sophomore Baillie Lawless (Rochester, N.Y.) followed up with impressive results of their own. All four sailors provided numerous top five finishes propelling Salve to ninth in the regatta. Salve Regina defeated schools such as MIT, Boston University, Dartmouth College, University of Vermont, Connecticut College, University of Rhode Island, University of Michigan and Cornell College.

The Seahawks showed their depth sending teams competing at University of New Hampshire and Boston University.

The Seahawk women's team competed at Boston University this weekend. After a slow start on Saturday, the team of Gena Marquardt (Williamsburg, Va.) and Nicole Ioannilli (Falmouth, Mass.) along with Mary Margaret Clawson (Maplewood, N.J.) and Shannon Killian (Georgetown, Mass.), came out with guns blazing on Sunday, finishing within the top ten.

"There is a tremendous amount of talent on this team," says head coach John Ingalls. "With a little more practice and experience it will be no time before they will find themselves at the top of the college sailing ranks."
