NEWPORT, R.I. (August 30, 2019) -- Senior Chandler Da Cruz (Middletown, R.I.) and junior Aidan Lynch (Little Silver, N.J.) have been appointed as captains of the men's cross country team for the 2019-2020 season.

Da Cruz was a regular varsity contributor in each of his first three seasons at Salve Regina. He represented the program in three NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships and was part of the lineups that earned two invitational victories in 2017.

"Chandler is a loyal, dedicated teammate. He sets high standards for himself and challenges others to do the same," said head coach Rob McGuinness. "I am confident that he will set the right tone for our group."

Lynch was the top runner on the team last fall, posting a new personal best for 8K in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship. He represented Salve Regina in two NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships and also played a scoring role in the team's invitational victories in 2017.

"Aidan is an excellent distance runner and he is very well versed in running mechanics, form drills and ancillary training," McGuinness said. "He is always willing to share what he knows to help his teammates improve. Aidan is an incredible asset to our team."

The Seahawks open their season at the Battle of the North Shore in Wenham, Mass., on August 31.
