NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Freshman Sean Hughes (Old Saybrook, Conn.) set the pace for Salve Regina in the Mini Meet at Central Connecticut State University. Racing against runners from 10 Division I teams and a handful of Division III opponents, Hughes finished the 5,000-meter course at Stanley Quarter Park in 16:24 and placed 37th in a field of 115 runners.

Yale University placed five runners in the top 10 to win the meet with a score of 26. Central Connecticut State University was second with 86 points, and the University of Hartford was third with 95. Salve Regina placed 12th with 312 points.

Freshman Timothy Roosa (Woodbury, Conn.) was the Seahawks' second man, crossing the finish line in 18:10. Sophomore Jack Simpson (Lynn, Mass.) finished in 20:21, freshman Daniel LaBrie (East Providence, R.I.) ran 20:28 and freshman Matt Sinkewicz (Colchester, Conn.) ran 20:58 to make up the rest of the scoring five.

Senior Michael Stankus (Cropseyville, N.Y.) and freshman Josh Critchley (Torrington, Conn.) were Salve's sixth and seventh runners, finishing in 21:28 and 22:24 respectively.

The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, Oct. 27 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship at Western New England University.
