CCC Rookie of the Week: Sean Hughes

Hughes was selected as the top rookie runner in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) for the third time and added the overall honor for the second time by besting all league competition at the Pop Crowell Invitational.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University freshman Sean Hughes (Old Saybrook, Conn.) finished ninth overall, and first among all Division III runners, to lead the Seahawks to a ninth place finish at the Trinity Invitational held at Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn. on Saturday. He earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week honors for men's cross country.

The Seahawks finished ahead of three other schools, including Manhattanville, Post, and Mitchell.

Hughes led the way with an outstanding time of of 17:07, averaging a 5:32 mile. Hughes out ran numerous Division I and II athletes, while finishing in front of all other Division III runners.
