Seahawks on scoreboard with full squad

BRISTOL, R.I. - Freshman Timothy Merlino [Big Sky, Mont.] finished 27th overall and first among Salve Regina men's cross country runners as the Seahawks posted their first team score in quite awhile.

"For the first time in several seasons, we fielded a scoring men's cross country team," said head coach David Bender.

Blame it on the freshmen as another first-year Seahawk runner came in behind Merlino to score at 38 - Barry Dagliere [North Haven, Conn.], who was followed by junior Daniel Blake [Randolph, Mass.].

Freshman James Weselcouch [East Haddam, Conn.] and junior Patrick Greeno [Douglas, Mass.] completed the scoring for the Seahawks while first-year runner and junior Michael Lalli [Middletown, R.I.] and freshman Michael Stankus [Cropseyville, N.Y.] rounded out the top seven.

"The young group of runners show much promise for the future of the Seahawk men's team," finished Bender.
