Seahawks bow to Gulls in final match of season

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University men's tennis took an early lead at third doubles, 4-2, before bowing in all three eight-game pro sets, and subsequently six singles matches, to Endicott College in the final Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) regular season match. The Gulls (10-7, 5-3 CCC) earn the No. 4 seed in the conference postseason tournament, while the Seahawks (2-11, 1-7 CCC) are eliminated from the CCC championships.

Freshman Will Chasse (Greenville, R.I.) and sophomore Aaron White (Falmouth, Mass.) held the 4-2 advantage at third doubles before sophomore Thomas Brent (Gorham, Maine) and junior Christos Papadopoulos (Weymouth, Mass.) won the last six games of the set for the sweep of doubles play.

In singles, Trevor Jones (South Hamilton, Mass.) and Zach Monahan (Stoughton, Mass.) both won in first set action at fourth and sixth singles, respectively. But Ozan Cermik () and Chris Leighton () were able to take the second set and force third-set tiebreaks, winning 10-7 and 10-6, respectively.
