Isch, Gunning garner all-conference honors
NEWPORT, R.I. - Senior Aaron Isch (Tolland, Conn.) was selected by the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's tennis coaches to the all-conference second singles team, as announced by commissioner Gregg Kaye. Isch and his doubles partner, junior Colin Gunning (Norwell, Mass.), received the necessary votes to also claim honorable mention accolades.
"Aaron has led his teammates as a captain for the last two years at Salve Regina," second-year head coach Kevin Pease said. "His unending competitive spirit and ability against high ranking number one opponents is amazing. As a leader, he provides instructional help to the younger players during practice. Always keeping the bigger picture in mind, he inspires through action and is a true gentleman."
Isch plans to get a master's in business administration at Salve Regina next year and return as an assistant coach with the men's tennis program.
"Colin put in lots of time and effort in improving his singles and doubles game in the off-season and during the academic year," Pease said, "and it shows."
Gunning played all of his dual match doubles in the top spot including 12 with Isch and one apiece with sophomore Monaf Awwa (Old Lyme, Conn.) and freshman Khoa Nguyen (Haverhill, Mass.).
