Davies takes home major award, four others named All-CCC

James Davies was named CCC Scholar Athlete while four others made an All-CCC team.

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its 2022 Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams and major award winners Wednesday morning. Eight of the 10 CCC schools were represented on this year's list with Endicott's eight selections leading the group.

The Gulls also took home two of the major awards as Joe Mepham (Sudbury, Mass.) was named the 2022 CCC Offensive Player of the Year and Tim Lynch (Groton, Conn.) was voted Rookie of the Year. Two student-athletes were given the distinction as Defensive Player of the Year with Roger Williams goalkeeper Jack Avellar (Orleans, Mass.) and Western New England midfielder Sean O'Neill (Belchertown, Mass.) both being recognized. Salve Regina senior James Davies (London, England) was selected as the CCC Scholar-Athlete. Roger Williams head coach James Greenslit took home Coach of the Year honors, while both Gordon and University of New England won the Team Sportsmanship award.

Along with Davies, four other members of the Salve Regina Univeristy men's soccer program made All-CCC: Evan Arpin, Jordan Borges, Kendy Prince, and Ben Tomas.

Head coach Craig O'Rourke II on his honorees:

James Davies – CCC Scholar Athlete

"I am very happy to see James recognized with this award. His dedication in the classroom, in the gym, and on the playing field is what make him the absolute epitome of a true scholar-athlete. He has always gone above and beyond in everything that he does as a student and as an athlete for our program. His performances at centerback in both the 2019 and 2021 seasons led to our appearances in the conference championship matches those seasons and this year, he picked up right where he left off until his quad injury cut his season short.  His soccer IQ is one of the best that I have ever coached and he will leave very big shoes, or excuse me… "trainers" to fill when he graduates from us this December."

Arpin (1st team Back), Borges (1st team forward), Prince (2nd team forward), Tomas (2nd team midfield)

"It's always nice to see the individual quality within our roster recognized by these sorts of awards.  I genuinely believe that both Borges and Arpin were two of the eleven best players in the conference this year and frankly, Tomas and Prince were not too far behind them.  Hopefully each of these young men use this award as a springboard into their off-season work so that they can come back all the better next season."

Voting for the All-CCC Teams and major awards was conducted by the 10 CCC head men's soccer coaches following the conclusion of the regular season and do not take postseason play into consideration.
