Kelly collects regional and national scholar awards

Casey Kelly

NEWPORT, R.I. (December 16, 2021) - Salve Regina University graduate student Casey Kelly (Waldwick, N.J.) adds United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region and Scholar All-American for the second time in both cases, as announced by the organization on its website (see below).

This season alone the fifth-year Seahawk and third-year captain has amassed multiple accolades including Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year, CCC Scholar Athlete, USC All-Region II, and Academic All-District™ as selected by CoSIDA.

"With this award, Casey now distinguishes himself as the most decorated player in our program history," says Salve Regina men's soccer head coach Craig O'Rourke II. "This will be the seventh plaque to bare his name in the Rodgers Recreation Center and with it, he also becomes the program's first ever two-time All-American. There really are not any words that can adequately desribe everything that this young man has accomplished in his time at Salve Regina nor what he has truly meant to the program. I think we have all just been very fortunate to have had this young man in our midst these past few years, and to say that he will be missed once he graduates and leaves Newport is a huge understatement."
