CCC Defensive Player of the Week: Nathan Reid

NEWPORT, R.I. (September 27, 2021) - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University senior goalkeeper Nathan Reid (Magnolia, Del.) as its Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer (Sept. 20-26).

CCC Defensive Player of the Week - Reid earned two wins in goal for Salve Regina this week. He allowed just one goal in a 4-1 victory over Mass. Maritime to open the week, making three saves in the contest. He then shutout Suffolk in a CCC victory, 3-0, on Saturday (Sept. 25). He stopped all six shots he faced against the Rams, allowing him to end the week with a 0.50 goals-against average and a .900 save-percentage.

Salve Regina men's soccer (5-3-1, 2-0 CCC) garnered attention in regional polls even before its recent five-game unbeaten streak. Three straight wins for the Seahawks includes a 2-0 start in CCC action. Alessandro Oggiano heating up with five goals in last three games. Nathan Reid has shutout both league opponents (Nichols, Suffolk) faced this year. The Seahawks face non-league foe Fitchburg State University on the road at 7 p.m.
