Salve Regina earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

For the ninth time in 11 seasons the Salve Regina University men's soccer team has been announced as recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the previous (2019-20) academic year.

NEWPORT, R.I. - For the ninth time in 11 seasons the Salve Regina University men's soccer team has been announced as recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the previous (2019-20) academic year.

In order to qualify for the award, teams are required to record a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Same academic requirements as always, but the organization changed its name from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) four years ago.

"I am always happy to see our program honored with this national award as it once again demonstrates our student-athletes' commitment on both the playing field and in the classroom," says 14-year head coach Craig O'Rourke II. "This year's award gives our program five in row. Our players know that this award is a major tool in our recruiting process in that we can point to the degree of academic excellence that we have been able to maintain these last several years and show the true value of a Salve Regina education."
