HENNIKER, N.H. - Salve Regina University men's soccer scored a 3-0 victory against New England College in the season-opener for both schools. Salve Regina got ahead early in the first half after a series of Seahawk corner kicks netted them their opening goal. Evan MacDonald (Candia, N.H.) was the go-to player for the corner kicks. He put the pass right on the head of Casey Kelly (Waldwick, N.J.) who was waiting on the far post to head home the first goal of the season.

The Seahawks struck again in the first half after Nathaniel Crocker (Hallowell, Maine) dished a pass to his right and found John Julian (Upper Saddle River, N.J.). Julian struck a ball from the right side of the field into the upper left corner. Donald Igo (Needham, Mass.) added another goal for the Seahawks in the second half with MacDonald earning his second assist of the game.

Salve Regina improves to 18-6-2 overall in its series with former Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Pilgrims. The Seahawks have won the last four meetings by a combined 9-0 score; the last meeting was eight years ago.

The Seahawks play at home on Wednesday, September 5, against Bridgewater State University (3:30 p.m.).
