NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University men's soccer won its third straight game with a 2-0 decision over University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday at Reynolds Field.

The teams battled through a scoreless first half although the home team outshot the visitors, 13-0. The offensive pressure finally broke through in the 54th minute as freshman Evan Dudney (North Andover, Mass.) scored his first collegiate goal. Dudney converted a quick pass in front of the net from junior co-captain Alec Shuman (Pompton Plains, N.J.) and deposited his first goal in the top of the net.

Salve Regina (5-5-1; 2-2-0 CCC) did not allow a single shot to get on its goalkeeper, sophomore Daniel Stern (Kings Park, N.Y.) who improved his personal record to 5-1-1 on the season.

With sophomore Joseph Pate (Smithfield, R.I.) throwing the ball in play in the 81st minute, junior Devin L'Heureux (Litchfield, N.H.) played a little give-and-go with Pate and converted a pass for an insurance goal.

Junior Aidan McParland (Brockville, Ontario) made a dozen saves in his 90 minutes for the Nor'easters (4-5-2; 0-3-1 CCC).

University of New England has a shorter travel for the middle contest of its three-game road trip when it visits Southern Maine on Monday (4 p.m.); Salve Regina plays a non-league contest at MIT on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
