PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team defeated intra-state rival Salve Regina, 2-0, in a non-conference contest at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Outdoor Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half with scoring opportunities at a minimum. Salve Regina managed a solid chance off a corner kick but couldn't convert thanks to the sturdy Wildcat defense. JWU was outshot in the first half, 6-5.

The Wildcats got on the board when junior O'Kyle Corridon (Selden, N.Y.) netted his second goal of the season 15 minutes into the second half on a nice breakaway feed by classmate Kyle Metz (St. James, N.Y.). Freshman Brandon Davidson (Allen, Texas) put the final goal in with 13 minutes remaining in the contest. His goal was assisted by Scott Lopez (Pequannock, N.J.) and Stuart Walker (Royalton, Vt.).

Junior Ryan Dzierzawski (Oakland, Mich.) made six saves in the win for the Wildcats while Jeffrey L'Heureux (Litchfield, N.H.) had seven stops in net for SRU.
