WENHAM, MA— The Fighting Scots of Gordon College captured a 3-0 win over the visiting Seahawks of Salve Regina University during the quarterfinal round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer tournament, to improve to 8-7-3 overall on the season and advance to the semifinal round.

With both teams vying for momentum in the early minutes, it was Gordon's Andrew Vandervoort (So./Memphis, Tenn.) who gave his team the 1-0 advantage after finishing a ball from Kellen Kasiguran (Jr./Oakwood Village, Ohio) in the 16th minute of play. Though Salve turned on the offensive pressure in the remaining minutes of the first, the Scots would extend their lead to 2-0 when Kristian Kasiguran (Fr./Oakwood Village, Ohio) buried a Noah McGarr (Sr./Westport, Mass.) assist with just over two minutes to play in the stanza.

Holding firm to that lead thanks in part to outstanding defensive efforts from Micah Linn (Sr./Germantown, Tenn.), John Clancy (Sr./Woodridge, Ill.), Trevor Hinshaw (So./San Jose, Calif.), and keeper Spencer Lord (Sr./North Stonington, Conn.), the Scots thwarted all 20 Salve attempts in the second half and received an insurance goal from Kellen Kasiguran on an Eric Ernst (Jr./Ridgecrest, Calif.) assist in the 61st minute to secure the win.

Lord notched 15 saves for the Scots in the winning effort, while Salve Regina keeper Kyle Kurczka (Fr./Berlin, Conn.) recorded five saves in the loss.

Salve Regina finishes the season at 7-9-3 overall while the Scots, in a rematch of last year's championship match, will host Nichols in the CCC semifinals on Tuesday, November 1.
