NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University freshman goalkeeper Kyle Kureczka (Berlin, Conn.) was announced as both the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rookie and defensive player of the week by conference commissioner Gregg Kaye on Tuesday afternoon.

Kureczka had a strong week in net for the Seahawks, allowing just one goal in over 220 minutes to compile a sparkling 0.41 goals against average.

The freshman keeper held Roger Williams to just one goal over 110 minutes of play to help the Seahawks earn a 1-1 double overtime draw last Wednesday, and then returned later in the week to shutout Curry, making 15 saves over 110 minutes during a 0-0 double overtime draw.

Kureczka and the Seahawks have earned the #7 seed in the CCC Tournament and will hit the road to face #2 Gordon this Saturday at 1 p.m. during the quarterfinal round.
