Seahawks host Scots in TCCC Quarterfinal

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University men's soccer team has earned the No. 4 seed in the 2009 The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament and hosts No. 5 Gordon in a quarterfinal contest on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. at Reynolds Field.

 

The Seahawks bring an 11-6-1 (8-4-1 TCCC) mark into this weekend's contest and are led by senior goalkeeper Kurt Ginthwain (Tolland, Conn.), who boasts a 9-5-1 record with a 0.61 goals against average (GAA) and an .850 save percentage. Sophomore Sean McAllister (North Arlington, N.J.) leads the team in both goals (eight) and points (20), followed by junior Ken Johnson (Colonia, N.J.) with six goals and 19 points.

 

The Scots (9-9, 8-5 TCCC) lead the all-time series, 12-9-1, including a 1-0 win in Wenham on Wednesday. Leading point-scorer Matt Horth (7-3-17) scored the only goal of the contest off a corner kick by Kellen Kasiguran for Gordon, which received three saves from Ryan Coil. Ginthwain also recorded three saves for the Seahawks.

 

Also on Saturday, the Salve Regina women's soccer team will meet Gordon College in a TCCC Quarterfinal match-up in Wenham at 1 p.m.
