Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Sixth seeded Nichols College upsets the third seeded Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team 10-9 in the quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tournament Saturday afternoon.

The Seahawks remain 15-9 all-time versus the Bison who snap a two-game skid in the series.

  1. Nichols senior Cian Keohane (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) scored three times and handed out an assist for the visitors.
  2. Nichols freshman Brady Morgan (Framingham, Mass.) stopped 9 shots to improve to 8-7 between the pipes.
  3. Nichols junior Ryan Warner (Graffton, Mass.) scored three times.

Turning Point
The game was a back-and-forth affair the entire afternoon with neither team leading by more than two goals. Trailing entering the fourth quarter the Bison scored three straight to take a 9-7 lead with 10:49 remaining. Pat Leary (Wakefield, Mass.) and Padraig Barry (Duxbury, Mass.) quickly responded for the Seahawks to knot things 9-9 with 6:21 to go. Then CJ Cadigan (Saugus, Mass.) flicked home a shot from the left-wing side to put the Bison back up by one 50 seconds later. The Seahawks would get three shots away, including a man-up opportunity in the final minutes but the Bison defense held to preserve the one-goal road victory.

  • Liam Cooney (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored twice, the only multi-goal scorer for the Seahawks.
