Newport, RI – Salve Regina University men's lacrosse head coach Patrick Cooney has announced that Ryan Chambers (Wakefield, Mass.), Rich Gneiding (Oradell, N.J.), Pat Leary (Wakefield, Mass.), Ryan Reilly (Hingham, Mass.), and Brendan Treacy (Danvers, Mass.) will lead the Seahawks as captains in 2022.

Leary, a graduate student and Administration of Justice major, enters his third season as a captain. Leary became the program's all-time leading goal scorer last season and will look to become the all-time points scorer as he leads the Seahawks this season.

Chambers, Gneiding, Reilly, and Treacy each earn their first captaincy.

Chamber will assume the role of starting goalie this season after posting four starts in 2021. Fellow senior Rich Gneiding and juniors Reilly and Treacy will help anchor an experienced midfield group.

2022 marks the 25th anniversary of men's lacrosse becoming an intercollegiate program at Salve Regina. A 25th Anniversary team, chosen by a committee of Salve Regina lacrosse alumni, will pick 25 players to represent the program's all-time student-athletes, and will be announced later this year.

Salve Regina begins its season on the road on February 26 with a non-conference matchup versus Western Connecticut.
