  • Western New England defeated Nichols 16-4 in Springfield last Tuesday. 
  • Senior Adam Knapton and Sean Lawton combined for 12 points in the victory for WNE. 
  • Knapton finished with three goals and four assists for seven points while Lawton poured in a game- and season-high five goals.

  • Senior Curtis McKeon has been one of the most reliable face off men for Salve Regina. 
  • Currenty, he has the best career winning percentage at the "X" at Salve Regina (.621). 
  • McKeon kicked off the 2014 campaign winning 13 of 16 faceoffs against Mount Ida. 
  • In his career, the senior has won 762 out of 1,241 chances at the "X". 
  • McKeon has a .621 winning percentage this season (164-of-251) and will most likely face off against senior Jesse DeLucca who has taken 107 face offs for the Golden Bears this season.

WINNING THE GROUNDBALL BATTLE
  • Last season, Salve Regina won out on the groundball battle over the season, picking up 624 to opponents 494. 
  • Leading the charge on the ground was senior Curtis McKeon. McKeon set the single season record for groundballs with 161 last season. 
  • McKeon is the all time leader at Salve Regina with 497 in his career.
  • McKeon recently broke his own single-game record for ground balls in a game picking up 24 against Clark (Mass.) on March 19.
CENTURY MARK
  • A pair of Seahawks recently surpassed the century mark in their careers.
  • Head coach Patrick Cooney earned his 100th win in his career with the Seahawks 18-8 win over Hood on March 11. Cooney is now 104-111 in his career and is 70-81 as a Seahawk.
  • With his lone goal against Gordon two weeks again, senior Chad Hollenshad broke the 100-goal mark for his career. He now has 106 in his senior campaign.
SCORING LEADERS
  • Salve Regina returns two of its three top scorers from a year again. 
  • Senior Chad Hollenshade led the team with 45 points (31g, 14a) last year despite missing three games due to the men's ice hockey team's run in the playoffs. 
  • Senior Chad McKeon was third on the team in scoring with 36 points (18g, 18a). McKeon led the team with 18 assists in 2013. 
  • This season, freshman Nick LoCicero leads the team with 47 points this season, including 36 assists. 
  • His 36 assists set a new single-season record for Salve Regina. 
  • Sophomore Sharp Jones leads the team with 35 goals this season while McKeon is close behind with 28 on the year. 
  • Senior Adam Knapton leads the Golden Bears with 30 points on the year on 21 goals and nine assits.
CCC PRESEASON POLL
  • Salve Regina ranks sixth in the 2014 Commonwealth Coast Conference preseason poll of the head coaches. 
  • The Seahawks finished the year 7-10 last year with a 4-4 mark in the CCC. 
  • SRU earned the number number five seed in the 2013 CCC Tournament.
