MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- Salve Regina University men's ice hockey fell 3-2 when Jackson Sterrett, from Endicott College, scored with less than two seconds to go in the game. Sterrett's goal brought the final score to 3-2 in favor of the Gulls.

BREAKDOWN:

  • Period I: Salve Regina was the first to score, starting off strong with a goal 12 minutes into the day by Aidan Coupe (from Josh Kroon). However, just over three minutes later the Gulls responded to Salve Regina's charge with a goal of their own. Jackson Sterrett scored his first of three goals for the evening (from Brad Zona and Andrew Kurapov) with 15:30 down in the period. It became very clear when the clock ticked down to zero that tonight's matchup would be much like last night's 2-2 tied game. However, with less than ten seconds left Matthew Fawcett (from Logan Calder and Walter Baumann) set the Seahawks ahead going into period two.
  • Period II: Damon Zimmer and Andrew Kurapov started off the action, taking the center ice faceoff. Seth Benson got the first shot in with 20 seconds down. Bringing the game back to even, Jackson Sterrett achieved his second goal of the evening (from Andrew Kurapov and Liam Ovington) at 12:52 in the period. The game was tied yet again. Going into the third period neither team had the upper hand.
  • Period III: For 19:58 the game went back and forth. Both teams brought the aggression and the game grew more physical, with the Gulls and Seahawks attempting to get the better of each other. For a hat trick, Jackson Sterrett fount the net with 1.8 to go (from Andrew Kurapov and Michael Casey). Sterrett's goal ended the day 3-2 in favor of Endicott.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Ryan Wilson remained in the Gulls' net for the full 60 minutes and made 21 saves.
  • Cayden Bailey left the net for nine seconds and made 21 saves.
  • Both the Gulls and the Seahawks served eight minutes on four infractions.
  • Both teams went 0-3 on the power play.
